Upload Singleplayer World on Hytale Server
Introduction
Hytale offers vast, procedurally generated universes that can represent hundreds of hours of exploration and building. If you have started an adventure in singleplayer and want to transition that progress to a HumbleServers Hytale node to play with friends, you can do so by migrating your world files.
Hytale handles world data within “Universes.” While the structure differs from Minecraft, the migration process is highly reliable when using an SFTP client like WinSCP.
Step 1: Locate Your Singleplayer World Files
Before you can upload your world, you need to find where Hytale stores your local save data on your computer.
- Open your Hytale Launcher.
- Navigate to the Settings or Data tab.
- Click on “Open Worlds Directory”. Alternatively, you can manually navigate to:
%appdata%/Hytale/Saved/Worlds/ - Inside this folder, identify the sub-folder named after the Universe you want to move. Keep this window open for later.
Step 2: Prepare WinSCP and Stop Your Server
To move entire folders safely, we will use SFTP. This prevents timeout issues often found in web-based uploads.
- Download WinSCP: If you haven’t already, download and install WinSCP.
- Stop Your Server: Log in to your HumbleServers Game Panel , go to the Console, and click Stop. Never upload world files while the server is “Running.”
Step 3: Connect via SFTP
- On your server dashboard, navigate to the Settings tab.
- Find your SFTP Details (Server Address and Username).
- Open WinSCP and enter these details:
- File Protocol: SFTP
- Host Name: Your Server Address
- User name: Your SFTP Username
- Password: Your HumbleServers account password
- Click Login.
Step 4: Upload the Universe Folder
- In the right-hand panel of WinSCP (the server side), navigate to:
Saved/Worlds/ - In the left-hand panel (your computer), navigate to the Hytale worlds directory you found in Step 1.
- Drag and drop your specific Universe folder from the left side to the right side.
- Wait for the transfer to complete. WinSCP will handle all the sub-folders automatically.
Step 5: Configure the Server to Load the World
Hytale servers need to be explicitly told which Universe ID to boot into.
- Go to the Startup tab in the sidebar of your panel.
- Find the variable labeled World Name or Universe ID.
- Enter the exact name of the folder you just uploaded (e.g.,
MyAdventureUniverse). - Check that the Level Name variable matches the internal world name (usually
default).
Step 6: Start and Verify
- Return to the Console and click Start.
- Monitor the startup logs. You are looking for a line that says “Universe Loaded Successfully” or “Starting World.”
- Once the server is “Running,” you and your friends can join your migrated world!
