How many players can a given RAM tier support?

There's no fixed number of players per RAM tier — it depends heavily on your software, mods and plugins, and settings. Two servers with identical RAM can hold very different player counts, so it's worth understanding what actually drives the ceiling.

What determines player capacity

RAM is only part of the picture.

  1. Lightweight Paper or vanilla servers stretch RAM much further than heavy modpacks.
  2. As a rough frame, more RAM plus a faster CPU raises the ceiling — but CPU single-thread performance often caps player counts first.
  3. Share your exact setup and we'll give a realistic estimate.

Tip: Two servers with the same RAM can hold wildly different player counts depending on mods and plugins — don't size on RAM alone.

Getting a realistic estimate

The most accurate answer comes from your specific configuration.

  • Tell us your software (vanilla, Paper, a specific modpack) and settings.
  • We'll factor in CPU and workload to suggest what's realistic.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a set number of players per GB? No reliable universal figure — it's workload-dependent.

What about a heavy modpack? Expect far fewer players per GB than vanilla, since modpacks are much more demanding.
