Community servers, practice configs, retakes and private matches — with full config and plugin access.
Your own CS2 community server, fully configurable.
Source 2 moved the goalposts. Here is what actually matters for hosting.
192GB DDR5. Valve publishes an x86-64-v2 baseline; Zen 4 clears it comfortably.
High-clock Zen 4 in North America too.
Valve hardcoded it with sub-tick updates. No host can sell you 128-tick CS2 — we will not pretend otherwise.
Client and server merged into one Steam app, so the server carries full game content.
A 64-slot community server costs the same as a 10-slot one.
Full SFTP for plugin frameworks, configs and custom maps, plus RCON for live admin.
No. CS2’s tick rate is locked at 64 and no host can change it.
Valve moved to a sub-tick update model with CS2, where actions are timestamped between ticks rather than snapped to them, and hardcoded the rate. During the early limited test it could be changed; it cannot now. Any host advertising 128-tick CS2 servers in 2026 is selling something that does not exist. Garry’s Mod, on the other engine, does still let you set tick rate.
Valve documents a 2GB minimum — but treat that as a floor, not a target.
2GB is the only official figure Valve publishes, and no recommended figure exists. It is realistic for an empty server running a stock config, and not realistic for a busy 64-slot community server with a plugin framework and custom maps loaded. We would rather tell you the official number and its limits than invent a “recommended” figure and attribute it to Valve.
No — CS:GO no longer exists. It was replaced by Counter-Strike 2 in 2023, and the old servers are gone.
If you are looking for CS:GO server hosting, Counter-Strike 2 is what you want; Valve retired CS:GO and upgraded the game in place. The server software, the app ID, the storage requirement and the tick rate all changed with it.

A note on CPU: plenty of hosting pages claim CS2 servers are single-thread bound. That is true of the old Source 1 engine, which Valve documents. CS2 runs on Source 2 and Valve has published nothing about its server threading model, so we are not going to state a threading claim we cannot source.
