How do I set a custom IP or domain for my server?
A custom domain gives players a clean, memorable address to connect to instead of a raw IP and port. Pointing your own domain at your server is free, and it only takes a couple of DNS records to set up.
How it works
You point a domain you already own at your server using DNS. Your registrar or DNS provider hosts the records; they simply direct traffic to your server's IP.
Step-by-step
- Note your server's IP and port from the Console/connection details.
- Create an A record for your domain pointing to the IP.
- For a custom Minecraft port, add an SRV record so players can connect without typing the port.
Tip: If you'd like help with the exact record values, open a ticket with your domain and we'll walk you through it.
Frequently asked questions
Does a custom domain cost anything? Pointing your own domain is free. You'll still need to buy the domain itself from a third-party registrar, as we don't currently offer free subdomains.
What if I want a fixed connection address that never changes? A Dedicated IP add-on is available at $4/month, giving you a stable address for your server.
