Game Servers

Can you switch my server from one game to another (e.g. Minecraft to ARK)?

Already have a server but want to run a different game on it? You don't need to buy a new one — we can reinstall your existing server with the game you want. Here's how it works and what to watch out for first.

How switching games works

Switching your server from one game to another (for example Minecraft to ARK) is a reinstall. We swap the underlying game software so your server runs the new title on the same plan and resources.

Because this is a full reinstall, the process wipes the server's existing files. That means worlds, configs, and anything else currently on the server will be removed as part of the switch.

Step-by-step

  1. Back up anything you want to keep. Download your world, configs, or other files via the Files manager or SFTP before you start.
  2. Open a support ticket telling us which game you'd like to switch to.
  3. We'll reinstall your server with the new game and let you know when it's ready.

Warning: Switching games reinstalls the server and wipes its files, so download anything you want to keep first — once the reinstall runs, the old files are gone.

Frequently asked questions

Do I keep the same plan and resources? Yes — you're changing the game, not the plan. Your RAM, storage, and location stay the same.

Can I switch back later? You can switch again by opening another ticket, but remember each switch is a reinstall and wipes the current files, so back up first.
