Because Valheim caps at 10 players, you do not need to size a plan around a large population the way you would for Rust or Palworld.
A persistent Viking world that stays up between sessions.
Hardware we name, and limits we are honest about.
192GB DDR5 per node. High-clock Zen 4 in both regions we run.
Germany and the USA are the only two locations we operate.
Valheim's own backup system runs by default, and we keep three days on top of it.
Crossplay servers relay through PlayFab, so there is nothing to configure.
Valheim worlds are persistent. Unlike Rust, there is no forced wipe — your world keeps going.
Valheim 1.0 lands 9 September 2026 and existing worlds carry forward.
10. That is a hard limit built into the game, not a setting your host can change.
Iron Gate states it plainly in the official 1.0 FAQ: “Just like it is now, Valheim 1.0 will be a game for 1-10 players.” There is no launch argument or config key for the player limit — it is absent from the complete official parameter list. If a host advertises 20 or 50 slot Valheim servers, that requires unsupported mods, and we would rather tell you than sell you a number.
Iron Gate does not publish a figure, and we are not going to invent one.
The official dedicated server guide covers setup, launch arguments and Linux dependencies, and states no RAM, CPU or disk requirement anywhere. Every number you will find quoted elsewhere is a hosting company’s estimate presented as a specification. What we provision is based on our own measurements, and because Valheim is capped at 10 players the ceiling is far lower and more predictable than an uncapped survival game.
No. Valheim 1.0 arrives 9 September 2026 and existing worlds carry forward.
Iron Gate has been testing a new chunked save format in the public test branch, which writes only the parts of the world that changed and adds post-save verification to reduce corruption risk. Iron Gate notes it has not been tested with mods. If you run a heavily modded server that is worth watching around release — and it is why we keep three days of backups rather than relying on the in-game ones alone.
