What plugins do you recommend (login, anti-cheat, protection, economy, etc.)?
There's a huge world of Minecraft plugins out there, but a handful of well-supported favourites cover most of what a server needs — commands, permissions, protection, economy, and more. Here's a solid starting lineup you can install straight from the Plugins tab.
Recommended plugins by category
- Essentials / commands: EssentialsX — homes, warps, kits, and dozens of core commands.
- Permissions / ranks: LuckPerms — the standard for managing groups and permissions.
- Land / grief protection: WorldGuard, GriefPrevention, and CoreProtect (for rollback and logging).
- World editing: WorldEdit — fast building and terrain editing.
- Anti-cheat: a maintained anti-cheat that supports your Minecraft version.
- Login / register (cracked servers): AuthMe.
- Economy: Vault plus an economy plugin.
- Holograms / chat: DecentHolograms and a chat formatter.
How to install them
- Open the Plugins tab (available on Paper/Spigot/Purpur software).
- Search for the plugin and install it.
- Restart the server so it loads.
- Check the Console to confirm each plugin enabled.
Tip: Some of these work together — for example, an economy plugin needs Vault installed first. Read each plugin's page for its dependencies before you rely on it.
Frequently asked questions
Do these work on Forge? No — these are Bukkit plugins and need Paper/Spigot/Purpur. Forge servers use mods instead.
Which anti-cheat should I pick? Choose one that's actively maintained for your exact Minecraft version — an outdated anti-cheat can cause more problems than it solves.
How many of these can I run at once? There's no hard limit — plugins are light, so this whole list runs comfortably on a modest server. Keep an eye on RAM and the Console for errors.
