How do I stop attacks or DDoS from overloading my server?
Your servers already sit behind network-level DDoS protection, so most volumetric attacks are absorbed for you automatically. A few good habits handle the rest — and it helps to know the difference between a network attack and an in-game one.
How your protection works
All of our nodes include DDoS protection at the network level, meaning the bulk of volumetric attacks are soaked up before they ever reach your server. What that protection doesn't cover is in-game trouble — bot joins, lag machines, and crash exploits — which are handled with server settings and plugins instead.
How to reduce attacks
- Rely on the built-in network protection — most volumetric attacks are absorbed automatically.
- Don't share your raw node IP publicly; use a domain/SRV or a dedicated IP ($4/month) so your IP is less exposed.
- Use a whitelist during targeted trouble, and remove disruptive players.
- If you're being hit hard or see unusual patterns, tell us in Discord so we can take a look.
Tip: In-game "attacks" like bot joins and lag machines are handled with a whitelist and anti-bot/anti-crash plugins — not network DDoS protection. Match the tool to the threat.
Frequently asked questions
I'm getting bot-joined — what do I do? Enable your whitelist and add an anti-bot plugin (see the Minecraft KB for recommendations).
What about a network DDoS? Protection is built into every node. If something gets through, contact us so we can investigate.
