Can I open extra ports for proxy backends or plugins (BlueMap, voice chat)?

Many plugins and network setups need more than the single default port your server ships with — a web map, a voice chat mod, a Bedrock bridge, or extra backend services. On HumbleServers you can add those extra ports yourself, and they're free.

What extra ports are for

The default port handles normal Minecraft connections. Additional allocations are useful for things like:

  • BlueMap or Dynmap web maps, which serve a map on their own port.
  • Simple Voice Chat, which needs a dedicated port for audio.
  • A Geyser UDP port for letting Bedrock players join.
  • Additional backend services on a proxy network.

How to add a port

  1. Open the Ports tab (network allocations) for your server.
  2. Add a new allocation — extra ports are free, so add what you need.
  3. Point the plugin or mod's config at the newly allocated port.
  4. Restart the server so the change takes effect.

Tip: Note the exact port number the panel assigns you and copy it into the plugin's config precisely — most "my web map won't load" issues come from a mismatch between the allocated port and the port in the config.

Frequently asked questions

Do extra ports cost anything? No. Adding allocations in the Ports tab is free.

Why isn't my web map / voice chat reachable after adding a port? Double-check that the port in the plugin config matches the allocation exactly, and that you restarted after editing. If it still won't connect, open a ticket and we'll help.

Is an extra port the same as a dedicated IP? No. Extra ports share your server's IP. A dedicated IP is a separate add-on (\$4/month) for when you need your own address rather than an additional port.
