VPS & Linux

Can I switch from game hosting to a VPS and keep or increase my storage?

You can absolutely move from game hosting to a VPS — just keep in mind it's a switch to a different product rather than a resize of your existing game server. A VPS is a fresh, unmanaged machine, so your files don't carry over automatically; you migrate them yourself.

How the switch works

Treat this as setting up a new machine and moving your data onto it.

  1. Choose the VPS plan (and storage) that fits your needs.
  2. Because a VPS is a fresh, unmanaged machine, plan to migrate your data yourself: download from the game server over SFTP or via a backup, then upload to the VPS.
  3. Ask us about the changeover so your billing lines up cleanly.

Warning: A game server and a VPS are separate systems — your files don't automatically carry over. Back up and transfer them deliberately before making any changes.

About storage

You pick the storage you need when you choose your VPS plan.

  • Select a VPS size with the storage allocation that fits.
  • Extra VPS storage is available as a paid add-on if you need more than a plan includes.

Frequently asked questions
