The Mods tab is stuck loading or errors (500) when installing — what now?
When the Mods tab hangs while loading or throws a 500 error during an install, it's usually a passing hiccup or a software mismatch — and there's always the reliable manual-upload fallback to get you moving.
Common causes
Installer-tab errors are often transient, or they happen because your server software doesn't support what you're installing (mods need Forge or Fabric). Either way, uploading the jar by hand still works.
Working around it
- Refresh and retry — a brief error often clears on its own.
- Confirm your server software supports what you're installing (mods need Forge/Fabric).
- As a fallback, download the mod
.jarand upload it to themodsfolder manually via Files, then restart. - If it keeps failing, share the details in Discord and we'll look into it.
Tip: The manual upload route (Files →
mods) works even when the installer tab is having a bad day.

The 500 error keeps happening — what should I do? Let us know in Discord — it may be a catalog or source issue on the installer's side.
