Can I keep my ports when switching nodes, and do ports work for Java & Bedrock?

If you use specific ports and you're moving nodes, you're probably wondering whether those ports come with you — and whether ports care what kind of service is listening. This article answers both.

Keeping ports across a node move

Ports are tied to your allocation on a node, so a node move may change your IP and ports. If you need specific ports preserved, tell us in the ticket when you request the move and we'll do our best to keep them for you.

Tip: Because a transfer can change your allocation, flag any ports you depend on before the move so we can plan around them.

Do ports work for Java and Bedrock?

Yes. On the networking side, allocations work the same regardless of what's listening on them. That means both Java and Bedrock — or any other service — can use the ports you're given. The panel doesn't care what protocol runs on a port; it just hands you the allocation and lets your service use it.
