For Minecraft, the Versions tab is the one-click, canonical way to switch software or change your Minecraft version. Your world and files stay in place through the swap — but a good backup first is always the smart move, especially before a downgrade.

How version changes work

The Versions tab reinstalls the server software while leaving your world and config files untouched. Upgrades are usually smooth; the risk lies in downgrades, where a world saved on a newer version may not open cleanly on an older one.

Changing your version safely

Back up first — download a copy of your world and files via Files or SFTP. The one-click Backups tab is temporarily offline during an upgrade, so use Files/SFTP, and staff can assist via ticket.
Open the Versions tab.
Pick your software (Vanilla, Paper, Spigot, Purpur, Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, Quilt, Folia, and more), then the Minecraft version and build.
Install, then restart from the Console tab.
