If I upgrade or downgrade my plan, will it delete my files or change my IP?
Plan changes keep your server and its files exactly in place — resizing adjusts your resources, it doesn't wipe your data. Here's what to expect when you upgrade or downgrade.
What happens during a plan change
When you resize a plan, your server, world, and configuration files all stay put. A change simply adjusts the RAM and CPU allocated to you, and a quick restart applies the new resources. Your data is never deleted as part of the resize itself.
How to change your plan safely
- Request the upgrade or downgrade through billing — upgrades are pro-rated.
- Your server, world, and configs stay in place; the resize adjusts resources, not your data.
- Expect a brief restart so the new RAM/CPU takes effect.
Warning: If a change moves you to a different tier that lives on a different node or location, your IP and port could change. Ask us to confirm before you switch so you can update your players and DNS in advance. Note that downgrades don't earn account credit.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files safe during a plan change? Yes — resizing doesn't delete data. Your world and configs remain exactly as they were.
Does my IP stay the same? Usually, yes — unless the change involves a move to a different node or location. If you're unsure, confirm with us before changing.
Do I need to turn the server off? A brief restart is typical to apply the new resources. If a change needs more than that, we'll advise you ahead of time.
