How do I migrate my server from another host (Aternos, Minehut, localhost)?

Moving your world to HumbleServers from Aternos, Minehut, a localhost server, or any other host is straightforward once you know the order of operations. This guide walks you through a clean migration.

Before you start

You'll need your world data and any plugins, mods, and configs from the old host. The key is to match your server software and version here so everything loads correctly.

Step-by-step

  1. On the old host, download your world folder (and plugins/mods, plus configs).
  2. On HumbleServers, match the software and version in the Versions tab (Paper/Spigot for plugins, Forge/Fabric for mods).
  3. Stop the server, delete the default world, and upload yours via SFTP — make sure level.dat is at the world root.
  4. Upload your plugins/mods and configs, then start and check the Console.

Tip: Recreate your server.properties settings (gamemode, difficulty, and so on) so the new server behaves like your old one.

Frequently asked questions

My world uploaded but drops me in the void. level.dat is probably nested one folder too deep. It must sit directly inside world. See our void-spawn article.

Do plugins carry over automatically? You upload them yourself, and they must match the software/version you selected in the Versions tab.
