Will I lose my world/progress when upgrading, moving region, or reinstalling?

Making a change to your server — a RAM upgrade, a version switch, a region move, or a reinstall — naturally raises the question: will my world survive? Here's the short answer for each, plus the one habit that keeps you safe every time.

What happens to your data in each case

• RAM/plan upgrade or downgrade: no data loss (just watch your disk usage on a downgrade).
• Version/software change: your world is kept — files the Software page replaces are moved to a _previous folder (mind downgrade corruption when moving to an older version).
• Region change / machine transfer: files are copied over; only the IP changes.
• Reinstall Server: there's no Reinstall button in the client area — software is (re)installed from the Software page. A reinstall on the old panel can wipe — see the reinstall article; back up first.

The one habit that keeps you safe

1. Before any of these changes, take a backup — Back up now on the Backups page, or download your world (and mods/plugins/configs) via Files or SFTP.
2. Make the change.
3. Verify the world loaded correctly before deleting your backup copy.
