How do I transfer server ownership to a friend's account?
Handing your server over to a friend's account touches billing, so it isn't a self-serve toggle — but it's easy to arrange, and there's a lighter option if you only need to share access. This article covers both.
Two paths
- Full ownership transfer — the service moves to your friend's account (billing included).
- Shared access — your friend gets panel access without owning the service.
How to do each
- For a full ownership transfer, open a ticket to request it. Because it touches billing, both parties should confirm from their side.
- For shared access instead (or as an interim), add your friend as a subuser in the Users tab. This gives them panel access with the permissions you choose, without transferring ownership.
Tip: If your friend only needs to help run the server, a subuser is quicker and keeps billing in your name.
Frequently asked questions
Can I transfer ownership myself in the panel? No — because it involves billing, it's handled by ticket, with both accounts confirming.
What's the difference between a subuser and an owner? A subuser has panel access with granular permissions but doesn't own or pay for the service. The owner controls billing.
Will a transfer keep my world and settings? Yes — ownership changes who the service belongs to, not the server's data. Still, take a backup first as good practice.
