Can I schedule automatic backups (e.g. daily)?

Automatic scheduled backups are a popular request, and they're coming back — but they're paused right now while the backup system is upgraded. This article explains what's available in the meantime and what you can still schedule.

Why backup scheduling is paused

The backup system is being upgraded to deduplication, so there's no "Create backup" schedule action available at the moment. Automatic backup scheduling will return with the new system.

What you can do now

  1. Take manual backups by downloading your files periodically via Files or SFTP.
  2. Keep dated copies on your own computer for history.
  3. Use the Schedules tab for automatic restarts and commands — that scheduler is fully available; it just can't create backups yet. See our scheduling articles.

Tip: A daily automatic restart from the Schedules tab keeps performance healthy even while backup scheduling is paused — set one up as a good habit.

Frequently asked questions

Can I set a nightly backup schedule? Not right now — the "Create backup" schedule action is paused during the upgrade. Take manual copies for now.

Does the Schedules tab still work at all? Yes. You can schedule automatic restarts and console commands; only the backup action is unavailable.

Will automatic backups ever return? Yes, with the new deduplicated system. We're not promising a date, but it's on the way.
