Can I schedule automatic backups (e.g. daily)?

Automatic scheduled backups are a popular request — and every server already has them. This article explains how they're scheduled and what else you can schedule.

How automatic backups are scheduled

Every server is backed up automatically twice a day: at 00:00 and 12:00 UTC by default. You can pick your own two times under Backup times on your server's Backups page.

What you can do now

1. Open your server → Backups and set your two Backup times if the defaults don't suit you.
2. Click Back up now for an extra manual backup before big changes (the newest 3 manual backups are kept).
3. Use the Schedules tab for automatic restarts and commands. See our scheduling articles.

Tip: A daily automatic restart from the Schedules tab keeps performance healthy — set one up as a good habit.
