Backup retention — how far back you can go and how long copies are kept — works a little differently right now while the panel backup system is being upgraded. This article explains what to expect.
Retention during the upgrade
With the self-serve panel backup system temporarily offline for its deduplication upgrade, retention is whatever you keep. Save dated copies of your world and files to your own computer via Files or SFTP, and you control exactly how far back you can restore.
Backups are included free on all plans, and once the upgraded system is live, the retention and slot details will follow.
How to keep good history yourself
- Download a copy of your
world(and mods/plugins/configs) before any big change. - Name each copy with a date so you can find the right point later.
- Keep several recent copies rather than overwriting one, so you have real history.
- Store them somewhere safe on your own machine or cloud storage.
Tip: For anything critical right now, download a copy and store it safely — that's your retention until the new system ships.
