Is there a fee to restore?

Restore fees depend on what you're restoring — your own saved copy, a backup on your server's Backups page, or recovering a fully deleted server. This article lays out each case so there are no surprises.

Restoring your own saved copy

Re-uploading a backup you saved is always free — you do it yourself via Files or SFTP. No fee applies.

Restore fees on the Backups page

You restore backups yourself on your server's Backups page. Free restores by plan:

• Budget: none, unless you chose a Backups option.
• Supreme: backups from the last 3 days.
• Ultimate: backups from the last 7 days.
• Every other plan: backups from the last 3 days.

If you chose a longer Backups option when ordering (e.g. 7 or 14 days), free restores cover that instead — you can change the option later with Change plan. Older backups (and on Budget without a Backups option, every automatic backup) can be restored for $3 each, which unlocks that backup for 7 days (restoring or downloading it). Browsing a backup is free, and manual backups (Back up now) are always free to restore and download.

Recovering a deleted server (different situation)

Backups are kept for 30 days after a server is deleted. Separately, there's a $5 server-restore fee for recovering a deleted or cancelled server — that's not the same as restoring a live server. To attempt it, you'll need the server's Console URL from your browser history, which contains the Server ID and old IP address. See the deleted-server recovery article for that path.

Tip: Keep your own downloaded copies — restoring those is free on every plan and puts you in full control.

Frequently asked questions

Does it cost anything to upload my own backup? No. Re-uploading a copy you saved is free via Files/SFTP on any plan.

Why does Budget have a $3 restore fee? Budget doesn't include free restores unless you chose a Backups option, so without one, restoring an automatic backup costs $3 (it unlocks that backup for 7 days). Supreme includes free restores from the last 3 days and Ultimate from the last 7 days; a longer Backups option extends the free window, and older backups cost $3 on any plan. Manual backups and your own uploads remain free.

What's the difference between the $3 and $5 fees? The $3 unlocks one backup for 7 days on your live server's Backups page when it's outside your free restores. The $5 is for recovering a deleted/cancelled server, which needs your Console URL from browser history.
