How do I install a modpack?
Installing a modpack on your server is refreshingly simple thanks to the Modpacks tab — for most popular packs it's a single click. The panel grabs the right loader and every mod for you, so you're only a few steps from playing.
How the Modpacks tab works
The Modpacks tab is a built-in installer. When you pick a pack, it automatically fetches the matching Forge or Fabric loader and all of the pack's mods, then sets everything up for you — no manual file juggling.
Step-by-step
- Open the Modpacks tab and search for the pack you want.
- Click install — the panel fetches the correct loader and all the mods automatically.
- When it finishes, start the server from the Console.
- In your Minecraft launcher, load the same modpack version, then connect to your server.
Tip: Heavier packs need more RAM. For large modpacks, a Supreme or Ultimate plan is recommended — see our modded sizing article to match resources to your pack.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to install the loader separately? No — the Modpacks tab installs the matching Forge/Fabric loader along with the mods, all in one step.
Why can't I join after it installed? You need the same modpack version in your launcher as the one on the server. A mismatch causes a "mod mismatch" kick.
My pack isn't in the list — can I still install it? Yes. See our article on installing an unlisted or custom modpack using the server files and SFTP.
