Which loader/Forge version does modpack X need?
Every modpack is built for one specific Minecraft version and one specific loader build. If you install manually, matching that build exactly is what makes the mods load. Here's where to find the right number.
Where the required version lives
Each pack targets a specific Minecraft version and Forge/Fabric build, and it's listed right on the pack's CurseForge or Modrinth page. If you use the Modpacks tab installer, it selects the correct loader for you automatically — you don't have to look anything up.
Installing manually
- Open the pack's CurseForge/Modrinth page and note its Minecraft version and Forge/Fabric build.
- In the Versions tab, install that exact loader build.
- Upload the pack's mods and configs, then start from the Console.
If the loader build doesn't match exactly, the mods won't load.
Tip: "Forge 47.2.0" and "Forge 47.1.0" are not interchangeable for a strict pack — copy the build number exactly as the pack lists it.
