My mod count is high (200/300/600 mods) — is that too many?

Running 200, 300, or even 600 mods? That's not unusual for big packs — the question isn't the count, it's whether your server has the resources to carry it.

It's weight and RAM, not count

It's not the count, it's the weight and your RAM. Big packs of 200–300+ mods are normal, but they need serious resources:

  • RAM: 12–16GB+.
  • CPU: fast, single-thread — a Ryzen tier.

If you're crashing on boot with OutOfMemory, or TPS is poor, you're under-resourced.

What to do if you're struggling

  1. Confirm you're on enough RAM (12–16GB+ for big packs).
  2. Move to a Ryzen (Supreme/Ultimate) tier for TPS.
  3. Pre-generate the world to ease exploration lag.
  4. See the modded sizing answer for detailed bands.

Tip: A high mod count isn't a problem by itself — OutOfMemory crashes and poor TPS are the real signals that you need more RAM or a faster tier.

Frequently asked questions

Is 300 mods too many? Not inherently — it just needs serious RAM (12–16GB+) and a fast Ryzen CPU.

How do I know I'm under-resourced? Boot crashes with OutOfMemory, or poor TPS, mean you need more RAM and/or a Ryzen tier.
