Can I keep my disk, ports, and IP when upgrading?

Upgrading your plan doesn't have to mean losing your connection details or re-uploading your world. Whether your IP, ports, and files carry over depends on what kind of upgrade you're doing.

In-place upgrades vs. hardware moves

An in-place upgrade — simply adding more RAM to the same server on the same node — keeps everything exactly as it is: your IP, your ports, and all of your files stay put. Nothing changes for your players.

A move that changes hardware or location (for example, shifting between our Washington (NA) and Germany (EU) regions, or onto different hardware) can change your IP and port. If that's the case, we'll flag it for you ahead of time so there are no surprises.

What stays with your server

1. Files and worlds — always preserved; an upgrade never wipes your data.
2. Extra ports you've added stay attached to the server.
3. Your IP stays the same on an in-place RAM upgrade, and may change only on a hardware/location move.

Tip: Pointing a custom domain at your server (free to set up) shields your players from any IP change — they connect to your address, and you update where it points behind the scenes.
