Can I split one big server into several, or combine several into one?
Because each service you order is its own independent server, splitting one server into several or combining several into one is a file-move exercise rather than a button press. Here's how each direction works and where we can help.
How splitting and combining actually work
There's no automatic merge or split button. Every service is a separate server with its own resources, so:
- Splitting one big server means ordering additional servers, then moving the relevant worlds and files onto them.
- Combining several servers means moving the worlds and plugins you want to keep onto one server, then cancelling the others.
Both are manual file moves, done over SFTP (or the Files manager) — and our team is glad to help.
Step-by-step
- Decide your target layout — how many servers you want and which worlds/plugins live where.
- Order any additional servers you need (for a split), or pick the server that will host everything (for a combine).
- Connect with SFTP (details are in the server's Settings tab), or use the Files manager.
- Copy the relevant
worldfolders,plugins/mods, and configs to the destination server. - Start each destination server from the Console and confirm everything loads.
- Cancel any servers you no longer need (for a combine).
Tip: For the mechanics of moving worlds and plugins between two servers, see the multi-server file-transfer answer — the same SFTP approach applies.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a one-click merge or split? No — it's a manual file move via SFTP, but our team can help.
Do I need to order servers before combining? For combining, no — you move everything onto an existing server and cancel the rest. For splitting, you order the extra servers first.
